PIE 521B Thermocouple Source

Overview

The PIECAL 521B includes all fourteen thermocouple types supported by the 520B family—J, K, T, E, R, S, B, N, G, C, D, L (J-DIN), U (T-DIN), and P—so one source covers plant-wide T/C needs. Source in temperature or millivolts (−13.000 to 80.000 mV).

Headline accuracy is ±(0.015% of reading + 0.009 mV) with ±0.25 °C cold-junction compensation. Digital dial resolution to 0.1° and EZ-CHECK three-point recall speed field checks of transmitters and recorders.

Compact handheld with backlit display; optional rubber boot with tilt stand. Made in the USA with NIST-traceable Certificate of Calibration.

Features (PIE)

PIE describes the 521B as a thermocouple source that simulates standard thermocouple curves across the industrial temperature range. It feeds precise temperatures to transmitters, recorders, controllers, alarms, data acquisition and computer systems, and it has a miniature thermocouple connector on the top end for fast connections.

• Accuracy: ±(0.015% of mV setting + 0.009 mV); typically ±0.35 °C (0.5°) for Type K.
• Output: adjustable in 0.1 °C or 0.1 °F steps with the EZ-Dial knob.
• EZ-Check: three-position switch for 0% and 100% span adjustments.
• Batteries: standard AA alkaline batteries with about 45 hours of typical continuous use, and easy access to the battery compartment.
• Protection: protected to 60 V.
• Included: NIST-traceable calibration certificate.
• Options: rubber boot, T/C wire with miniature connector, and carrying case. Offered with a Standard or Basic accessory package.
